
A five-member committee has been formed by the Fire Service and Civil Defence (FSCD) to probe the devastating fire that swept through Korail Slum in the capital.
The investigation panel has been asked to submit the investigation report within 15 working days, Md Shahjahan Sikder, assistant director FSCD, Headquarters confirmed.
Five members of the committee are: FSCD deputy director (operation and maintenance) Md Mamunur Rashid, assistant director, Dhaka, Kazi Nazmuzzaman, deputy assistant director Atish Chakma, senior station officer, Tejgaon, Md Nazim Uddin Sarker and warehouse inspector Md Sohrab Hossain.
The committee has been tasked with finding out the cause behind the fire and ascertaining the losses caused by the blaze.
The fire that broke out in the Korail Slum in the capital's Tejgaon area was fully doused around 9:30 am on Wednesday after 16 hours of strenuous efforts, officials of the Fire Service and Civil Defence (FSCD) said.
