Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) successfully thwarted a major push-in attempt by the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) involving four individuals at the Sapahar frontier in Naogaon.
The infiltration bid was launched by BSF personnel early Tuesday (October 6) along the Sonadanga border area of the upazila.
According to local residents and BGB sources, troops stationed at India’s Atila BSF post, located directly opposite the Sonadanga Border Outpost (BOP) in Sapahar upazila, tried to push four individuals—comprising three men and one woman—across the zero line into Bangladeshi territory early Tuesday morning.
Detecting the illegal movement, an alert BGB patrol team from the Sonadanga post swiftly intervened and effectively intercepted the illegal crossing attempt.
The four individuals presently remain at the zero line separating the two countries.
Extra BGB troops have been posted to the zone to maintain absolute control over the situation and avert any unprovoked incidents.
Additionally, around-the-clock monitoring across the border line has been fortified with the cooperation of nearby villagers.
Lieutenant Colonel Mohammad Ehsan Habib, PSC, Commanding Officer of the 14 BGB Battalion in Naogaon, mentioned that diplomatic and operational steps are actively ongoing to ensure the four people are securely repatriated to Indian territory, adding that security patrols have been significantly heightened across the border domain.
"To protect the country, no one will be allowed to illegally enter Bangladesh even by an inch," he affirmed.
