Food inflation rises in May

The country's inflation rose 0.15 percent to 9.89 percent in May this year. In April, the inflation rate was 9.74 percent.

This information was released by the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS) on Monday (June 3).

The latest BBS data shows that non-food inflation decreased in May, but food inflation increased exorbitantly. Food inflation rose to 10.76 percent while non-food items rose to 9.19 percent. Urban areas have had a higher inflation impact than rural areas.

Urban areas had higher inflation effects than rural areas. Inflation is 9.99 percent in urban areas and 9.72 percent in rural areas.

In March, food inflation in urban areas was 10.86 percent, non-food inflation was 9.03 percent, food inflation in rural areas was 10.73 percent and non-food inflation was 9.31 percent.
