The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) has announced a reduction in gold prices by BDT 2,216 per bhori, effective immediately from Tuesday.
This adjustment follows a decline in the price of pure gold, known locally as "tejabi" gold. Under the newly implemented rates, 22-carat gold is now priced at BDT 258,824 per bhori, down from its previous rate of BDT 261,040.
The revised pricing structure also sets 21-carat gold at BDT 247,044 per bhori and 18-carat gold at BDT 211,760 per bhori. Gold refined through traditional methods is now valued at BDT 173,327 per bhori.
BAJUS reminded consumers that all purchases are subject to a mandatory 5 percent government VAT and a minimum making charge of 6 percent, which may fluctuate based on the specific design and craftsmanship of the jewelry.
This latest move marks the 29th price adjustment in the local market so far in 2026, a year that has seen 18 price hikes and 11 reductions to date.
While gold prices experienced this downward shift, silver rates remain stable. Currently, 22-carat silver continues to sell at BDT 6,357 per bhori, while 21-carat and 18-carat silver are priced at BDT 6,065 and BDT 5,190 per bhori, respectively, with traditional silver holding at BDT 3,907.
