Gold Prices Skyrocket Again: 22-Carat Hits Record BDT 2.44 Lakh per Bhori

Gold prices in Bangladesh have witnessed another sharp spike as the Bangladesh Jewellers’ Association (BAJUS) announced an increase of BDT 3,266 per bhori for 22-carat gold, effective immediately from Tuesday morning.

According to a formal statement from BAJUS, the price of the high-quality 22-carat gold has now been set at BDT 244,711 per bhori (11.664 grams).

The association attributed this latest surge to a significant rise in the price of pure gold (locally known as tejabi gold) within the domestic market, necessitating an immediate price adjustment.

Under the newly revised rates, 21-carat gold is now priced at BDT 233,572 per bhori, while 18-carat gold will cost consumers BDT 200,213. Gold produced through traditional methods has also seen an increase, with the price fixed at BDT 163,063 per bhori.

This hike follows a previous increase on March 28, when BAJUS raised the 22-carat rate by BDT 4,433 to reach BDT 241,445.

The year 2026 has been marked by extreme volatility in the precious metals market; so far, gold prices have been adjusted 50 times—increasing on 29 occasions and decreasing 21 times.

The price of silver has also climbed alongside gold. The rate for 22-carat silver rose by BDT 350, bringing it to BDT 5,715 per bhori.

Other silver grades were adjusted accordingly: 21-carat at BDT 5,424, 18-carat at BDT 4,666, and traditional silver at BDT 3,499 per bhori. To date in 2026, silver prices have undergone 30 revisions, consisting of 17 increases and 13 decreases.
