A Dhaka court on Tuesday fixed November 5 for the submission of the investigation report in the murder case concerning the death of iconic film actor Salman Shah.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Jewel Rana issued the directive after the assigned investigating officer failed to submit the probe report on the scheduled date.
The murder case was formally lodged on October 21, 2025, by Salman Shah's maternal uncle, Mohammad Alamgir, widely known as Alamgir Kumkum.
Filed at the capital's Ramna Police Station under Sections 302 and 34 of the Penal Code, the complaint names 11 individuals as accused, including the late actor's wife, Samira Haque.
The other individuals named in the suit are Aziz Mohammad Bhai, Samira's mother Latifa Haque Lusi, Don, David, Zaved, Faruk, Ruby, A Sattar, Saju, and Rijvi Ahmed Farhad.
The court's timeline follows an earlier directive issued on October 20, 2025, by Dhaka 6th Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge Md Jannatul Ferdous Ibn Haque, who ordered the officer-in-charge of Ramna Police Station to treat the case regarding the death of Chowdhury Mohammad Shahriar (Emon), professionally known as Salman Shah, as a formal murder investigation and submit a comprehensive report.
In that directive, the court officially cancelled and revoked a previous order passed on October 31, 2021, regarding the unnatural death case.
According to the official case statement, on September 6, 1996, Salman Shah's mother Nilufar Zaman Chowdhury (Neela Chowdhury), his now-deceased father Kamar Uddin Ahmed Chowdhury, and their younger son Shahraan Shah visited Salman's residence at New Eskaton.
Upon arrival, his wife, Samira, alongside a domestic aide named Abul, informed the family that the actor was sleeping. Film producer Siddique had also arrived at the residence around the same time.
Learning that Salman was asleep, his parents informed Samira that they would visit him later on their way to Sylhet.
Later that afternoon, production manager Selim contacted Kamar Uddin Ahmed Chowdhury by phone, stating that an incident had occurred involving Salman and urging the family to return to the residence immediately.
Upon returning to the house, Neela Chowdhury, her husband, and their younger son discovered Salman lying motionless in his bedroom while several unfamiliar women were applying oil to his hands and feet.
In a separate room, Samira's relative Ruby, who operated the nearby Mayfair Beauty Parlour, was present.
When Salman's mother panicked and demanded that her son be transported to a hospital without delay, an acquaintance of Samira reportedly yelled at her, stating, "You get out of my house."
Salman's parents promptly rushed him toward Holy Family Hospital, during which time they observed distinct rope marks around his neck, while his facial features and legs had turned blue.
His mother insisted on transferring him to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where attending physicians declared the superstar dead on arrival, confirming he had passed away earlier.
Following the tragic event, Kamar Uddin Ahmed Chowdhury initially filed an unnatural death case.
The subsequent year, on July 24, 1997, the actor's father submitted a legal petition alleging murder and seeking to reclassify the investigation under Section 302 of the Penal Code.
In explaining his role as the primary complainant, Mohammad Alamgir noted, "As Salman's father -- my brother-in-law -- has passed away, I am pursuing the case on behalf of my sister under the power of attorney vested in me."
