Gold prices in Bangladesh have dropped for the fourth consecutive time, with the Bangladesh Jeweller’s Association (BAJUS) cutting the rate of 22-carat gold by BDT 4,432 per bhori (11.664 grams) to BDT 218,350.

According to a notice issued by the trade body on Thursday morning, the newly revised prices took official effect from 10 am.

BAJUS attributed the latest price adjustment to a steady decline in the price of pure gold within the local market, which prompted the association to recalibrate the domestic rates after thoroughly evaluating the overall market situation.

Under the updated pricing structure, 21-carat gold will now cost BDT 208,436 per bhori, while the price of 18-carat gold has been set at BDT 178,692 per bhori.

Meanwhile, the price of gold refined through the traditional method has been fixed at BDT 145,508 per bhori.

This fresh reduction comes just a day after BAJUS slashed gold prices by BDT 6,591 per bhori on Wednesday, which had previously set the price of 22-carat gold at BDT 222,782 per bhori.

Market data shows that gold prices have steadily declined in eight of the last 10 adjustments made by BAJUS.

Throughout this current streak of four consecutive cuts alone, the price of top-tier 22-carat gold has fallen by a cumulative BDT 19,771 per bhori.

So far in 2026, BAJUS has revised precious metal prices a total of 73 times, raising the rates on 37 occasions and reducing them 36 times.

Alongside the drop in gold, the trade association also announced a fresh reduction in silver prices, cutting the rate of 22-carat silver by BDT 58 per bhori to BDT 4,841.

Concurrently, the rate for 21-carat silver has been set at BDT 4,607 per bhori, while 18-carat silver will now sell at BDT 3,966 per bhori.

Silver produced under traditional methods will cost consumers BDT 2,974 per bhori.

This marks the 44th time silver prices have been adjusted this year, tracking an even split of 22 increases and 22 decreases during the period.
