Gold prices in Bangladesh have surged by BDT 12,072 per bhori over two consecutive days, sharply reversing a prolonged declining trend.
The Bangladesh Jewellers’ Association (BAJUS) cited rising pure gold prices in the local market as the reason for the sudden turnaround.
BAJUS raised the price of 22-carat gold by BDT 5,482 per bhori on Monday, setting the new rate at an all-time high of BDT 2,30,422.
This latest revision took effect from 10 am on the same day.
The sharp hike follows a substantial BDT 6,590 increase announced just a day prior on Sunday, which had fixed the 22-carat rate at BDT 2,24,940 per bhori.
According to a statement from the jewellers' association, the rapid adjustments reflect a significant price surge of tejabi (pure) gold in the domestic market, "which necessitated a comprehensive revision of rates."
Under the newly revised structure, the per-bhori (11.664 grams) pricing for the precious metal stands as follows: 22-carat: BDT 230422, 21-carat: BDT 219983, 18-carat: BDT 188549 and Traditional (Sanatan) method: BDT 153557
The local gold market has experienced historic volatility this year. Gold prices in Bangladesh have been adjusted a total of 75 times so far in 2026, with rates being raised on 39 occasions and reduced on 36.
Alongside the spike in gold, silver prices also witnessed an upward shift on Monday.
The price of 22-carat silver rose by BDT 233 per bhori, bringing its new rate to BDT 5,365.
Other revised silver rates include 21-carat at BDT 5,132, 18-carat at BDT 4,432, and traditional method silver at BDT 3,324 per bhori.
Much like gold, the silver market has seen frequent fluctuations, with prices being revised 46 times in 2026 so far—counting 24 increases and 22 reductions.
