Primary and Mass Education Adviser Professor Bidhan Ranjan Roy Poddar announced on Thursday that every government primary school student across the country received a full set of textbooks on the first day of the new year.
Speaking as the chief guest at the textbook distribution inauguration held at Abul Bashar Government Primary School, the Adviser noted that for the first time in recent years, 100 percent distribution was achieved right at the start of the academic session.
"The quality of these books is significantly improved compared to previous years," he added.
In a move to foster a more collaborative learning environment, Dr Bidhan Ranjan informed guardians that the government is preparing a specialized "Guardian Guidelines" book.
This resource, aimed at improving the overall quality of primary education, will be distributed to parents shortly.
The Adviser emphasized that a strong foundation in primary schooling is essential for the nation's future. He stated that the primary goal is ensuring children become fully literate.
"If we can teach children to read correctly at the primary level, they will be able to learn independently later on. Developing primary education involves everyone and will have a lasting positive impact on higher education," he remarked.
The ceremony was presided over by Abu Noor Md Shamsuzzaman, Director General of the Department of Primary Education.
Special guests included Abu Taher Md Masud Rana, Secretary of the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education and Dr Md Abdul Latif, Vice Chancellor of Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University.
Following the event, the Adviser visited Nalanda High School at the Chhayanaut Sanskriti Bhaban to participate in their book distribution program.
