Eminent writer, researcher, and former professor of Bengali language and literature at Dhaka University, Professor Abul Quasem Fazlul Huq, passed away on Sunday afternoon. He was 85.
According to Serajul Islam (Seraj Salekeen), the chairman of the Department of Bangla at Dhaka University, Professor Huq fell critically sick while attending a family programme.
He subsequently passed away at around 2:30 pm at the National Heart Foundation in Mirpur.
Professor Abul Quasem Fazlul Huq, a revered academician who dedicated more than forty years to teaching at Dhaka University, was highly recognized for his expansive literary contributions, essays and progressive critiques.
In recognition of his profound impact on Bangladeshi literature and research, he received the prestigious Bangla Academy Literary Award in 1981.
