The ongoing health crisis intensified as eight more children died of measles-like symptoms across the country in the past 24 hours.

Concurrently, the total number of reported cases reached 1,086, according to the regular daily update issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

Data from the health directorate revealed that the number of suspected measles cases recorded specifically within the last 24 hours stood at 1,033.

This brings the cumulative number of suspected measles cases to 69,612 since the current monitoring period began on March 15.

Furthermore, 53 cases were laboratory-confirmed as measles in the past 24 hours, pushing the nationwide tally of confirmed measles cases since March 15 to 8,996.

Hospitalization data underscores the significant strain on the country's healthcare infrastructure.

Since March 15, a total of 55,705 patients exhibiting suspected measles symptoms have been admitted to various medical facilities across Bangladesh.

During the same tracking period, 52,050 patients successfully recovered and were discharged from hospitals.

The casualty figures continue to mount, with the total number of deaths among suspected measles cases reaching 493 since March 15.

Out of these fatalities, 90 deaths have been formally confirmed as directly resulting from the measles virus.

Geographically, the capital and its surrounding areas remain the hardest-hit zone.

So far, the highest concentration of the outbreak has been reported in the Dhaka division, where 32,908 people have been identified as suspected cases. Among them, 6,261 cases have been officially confirmed as measles.
