Five more children have died with measles symptoms across the country in the last 24 hours, while the total number of patients recorded during the period stood at 796, according to a press release issued by the Control Room of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Saturday.

According to the health directorate's official release, the number of suspected measles cases reported in the last 24 hours alone was 733, pushing the total number of suspected measles cases recorded since the outbreak monitoring began on March 15 up to 84,899.

During the past 24 hours, 63 new laboratory-confirmed measles cases were reported, bringing the cumulative number of confirmed cases since mid-March to 10,248.

The data also reveals a heavy burden on the country's healthcare infrastructure, as a total of 68,056 suspected measles patients required hospital admission between March 15 and June 13.

While no new deaths from laboratory-confirmed measles were reported in the last 24 hours, the total death toll from confirmed measles since March 15 stands at 92.

Concurrently, five fresh deaths were reported on suspicion of measles during the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of fatalities from suspected measles since March 15 to 556.

Geographically, the highest concentration of the disease has been observed in the capital's region, with the DGHS noting that the highest number of suspected measles cases has been recorded in Dhaka Division, where 39,462 people have been affected so far, out of which 7,062 cases have been officially confirmed as measles.
