Suvendu Adhikari is set to take the oath of office as the state's Chief Minister at 10:00 AM local time today, Saturday (May 9). Adhikari makes history as the first leader from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to hold the top executive post in West Bengal.

The formal announcement of his leadership was made yesterday, Friday (May 8), by Union Home Minister Amit Shah during a crucial meeting of newly elected BJP MLAs. Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi was also present at the gathering.

A High-Profile Gathering
The swearing-in ceremony is expected to be a massive event, drawing top leadership and dignitaries from across India:

National Leadership: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and BJP President Nitin Nabin are scheduled to attend.

State Representatives: Chief Ministers from at least 20 Indian states are arriving in Kolkata to witness the historic transition.

Security and Arrangements
A multi-tier security ring has been established across Kolkata and the Brigade Parade Ground. The venue has been divided into 35 sectors, with approximately 4,000 police personnel deployed to ensure safety.

Cultural Showcase
To celebrate the heritage of Bengal, the main stage features a massive idol of Goddess Durga alongside various aesthetic replicas representing West Bengali culture.

For the thousands of guests in attendance, food stalls have been set up serving traditional Bengali delicacies, including Jhalmuri, Rosogolla, and Sandesh.
