U.S. President Donald Trump has characterized a 10-point ceasefire proposal submitted by Iran as a "viable" basis for negotiations.

"We have received a 10-point proposal from Iran," Trump stated. "We believe this could serve as an effective foundation for discussions."

He further noted that the United States and Iran have reached a consensus on nearly all past points of conflict.

However, he emphasized that an additional two weeks would be necessary to finalize and successfully execute the agreement.

Key Points of Iran’s 10-Point Proposal
According to Iranian state media, any final agreement must be rooted in these ten points. The primary conditions include:

• Lifting of all sanctions imposed on Iran.
• Maintaining Iranian control over the Strait of Hormuz.
• Withdrawal of U.S. troops from the Middle East.
• Cessation of all attacks on Iran and its allies.
• Unfreezing of Iranian assets held abroad.
• Making the agreement legally binding through the UN Security Council.
• Recognition of Iran's right to enrich uranium for its nuclear program.

Iran’s Stance on the Strait of Hormuz
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated that maritime traffic through the strait would be kept secure under Iranian military supervision.

Reports suggest a fee of up to $2 million could be levied per ship, with the revenue allocated toward post-war reconstruction. There is also a standing warning that the strait will be closed again if negotiations fail.

Will the U.S. Accept?
Analysts suggest that given the severity of Iran's demands, it is unlikely the U.S. will accept them outright.

U.S. Senator Chris Murphy warned that granting Iran control over the Strait of Hormuz could be "catastrophic for the world." However, President Trump has hinted that the U.S. would cooperate to ensure the normalization of ship movement in the area.

Israel’s Position
While Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu expressed support for a ceasefire, he clarified that it does not encompass Lebanon.

Israel's Demands:

• Iran must immediately cease all attacks.
• Ensuring the termination of Iran’s nuclear and missile programs.

The ongoing conflict in Lebanon has already resulted in approximately 1,500 deaths and displaced over 1.2 million people.

Next Steps
Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who mediated the ceasefire, has invited both parties to Islamabad for meetings.

Iran has agreed to participate. The United States is also considering direct talks, though a final decision has not yet been reached. Meanwhile, China has reportedly encouraged Iran to pursue the ceasefire path.
