U.S. President Donald Trump has expressed optimism regarding the possibility of reaching an agreement with Iran, stating that negotiations between the two countries are progressing positively and that there is a strong likelihood of a settlement. However, he also warned that the United States would resume military operations if the talks fail.

According to Anadolu Agency, Trump made these remarks while speaking to reporters on Monday (July 27) local time. "They want to meet and we're meeting. Let's see what happens. There's a chance a deal could be made," Trump said. He added, "If we hadn't done what we did, they wouldn't even be sitting down with us."

"We're talking to Iran right now. The talks are going well. So let's see what happens. There's a very good chance of something good coming out of it," Trump stated. "If not, we'll just go right back to doing what we were doing two days ago."

He did not elaborate further on the matter. Trump claimed, "If we were in a weak position, they would never have asked for a meeting. They are only asking for a meeting now because we hit them very hard."

Asked about Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's claim that Russia is providing satellite intelligence data to Iran, Trump said he would raise the issue with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

"We'll find out very soon. I will ask Putin. That's when things will become clear," he said.

Responding to a question on whether his stance on the Iran issue aligns with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Trump stated that they are "largely in agreement," though there are "some minor differences."

Meanwhile, a U.S. administration official told Anadolu that Trump will meet with Netanyahu at the White House on Tuesday (July 28).

Speaking on condition of anonymity, the official said the meeting will cover the Iran conflict, progress on implementing the tripartite framework in Lebanon, and the further expansion of the Abraham Accords.

Additionally, Trump will hold a separate meeting at the White House with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

The official noted that the ongoing progress of the Russia-Ukraine peace process will be discussed during that meeting, adding, "It is time to end the war right now."

Recently, following Iranian attacks on commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz, the United States launched a series of strikes on various Iranian facilities.

In response, Iran targeted U.S. military bases and installations located in several Gulf countries. After two consecutive weeks of tit-for-tat attacks, hostilities have been on pause for the past three days.
