A Dhaka court has officially accepted a plea seeking to cancel its previous order to exhume the remains of the late, renowned film actor Salman Shah.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Jewel Rana issued the order today following a petition filed by the actor's maternal uncle, Mohammad Alamgir (Kumkum).
Furthermore, the court has set July 23 for the submission of a probe report concerning a murder case filed against 11 individuals, including the actor's wife, Samira Haque.
The legal developments follow a court order passed on May 20, which had initially mandated the exhumation of Salman Shah’s remains to prepare an inquest report and conduct an autopsy in a renewed effort to determine the exact cause of his death.
The murder case at the center of these proceedings was filed by Mohammad Alamgir on October 21, 2025, at the capital's Ramna Police Station under sections 302 and 34 of the Penal Code.
Beyond Samira Haque, the 11 accused individuals named in the case include Aziz Mohammad Bhai, Samira's mother Latifa Haque Lusi, actor Dawn, David, Zaved, Faruk, Ruby, A Sattar, Saju, and Rijvi Ahmed Farhad.
The trajectory of this case was significantly altered on October 20, 2025, when the Sixth Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge of Dhaka, Md. Jannatul Ferdous Ibn Haque, directed the Officer-in-Charge of Ramna Police Station to treat the death of Chowdhury Mohammad Shahriar (Emon)—professionally known as Salman Shah—as a formal murder case and to investigate accordingly.
In that directive, the court also noted that the previous unnatural death (UD) case was effectively canceled by an order dated October 31, 2021.
