ICT Investigation Body Granted Permission to Interrogate Major Mozaffar

The investigation agency of the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) will question Major (retd) Mozaffar Hossain, an accused in the President Ziaur Rahman assassination case, in connection with a crimes against humanity (miscellaneous) case.

The decision was handed down by ICT-2, chaired by Justice Nozrul Islam Chowdhury, following the approval of a petition submitted by Chief Prosecutor Md Aminul Islam.

The order was issued this morning after Mozaffar was brought before the court in compliance with a previously issued production warrant.

The second tribunal had initially mandated on July 21 that Major (retd) Mozaffar Hossain be produced before the court on Thursday.

Speaking to reporters on July 21 regarding the grounds for questioning, Chief Prosecutor Md Aminul Islam stated, "The arrested Lt Gen (retd) Masud Uddin Chowdhury, an accused in a crimes against humanity case linked to the July-August Mass Uprising 2024 (miscellaneous case), has involvement in various crimes against humanity dating back to the 'One-Eleven' period. Major (retd) Mozaffar also had conversations and other links with Masud Uddin Chowdhury. These connections should be probed."

Major (retd) Md Mozaffar Hossain was previously taken into custody by the Detective Branch (DB) of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) from the capital's DOHS area on July 15, after which he was transferred to the Military Police at Dhaka Cantonment.
