Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Md. Asaduzzaman announced on Friday that recommendations submitted by the Law Reform Commission will be executed in full alignment with the principles of the July Charter.
Speaking to reporters after opening a month-long tree fair and tree plantation initiative on the historical old DC Court grounds in Jhenaidah, the minister highlighted that the previous interim administration had issued 133 ordinances rooted in the commission's proposals.
He explained that the majority of these legal reforms have already been accepted by the government, while a dedicated committee has been constituted to evaluate and amend the remaining provisions.
Addressing queries regarding the potential return of ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the law minister asserted that the administration would pursue all necessary legal avenues if she returns to the country, emphasizing that she will be brought before the court and that the government will act strictly in accordance with the law.
When questioned about the recent violence in Habiganj targeting National Citizen Party (NCP) leaders, Asaduzzaman guaranteed that law enforcement would conduct an unbiased inquiry into the incident and take stern legal action against anyone found culpable.
The inauguration event was attended by State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism M. Rashiduzzaman Millat, Political Assistant to the Prime Minister Rashed Khan, Jhenaidah Deputy Commissioner Noman Hossain, and Zila Parishad Administrator M.A. Majid, alongside other local dignitaries.
