According to reports, approximately 4,000 metric tons or 4.7 million liters of diesel from India have reached the depot at the Parbatipur receiving center in Dinajpur through the India-Bangladesh Friendship Pipeline.

This diesel was imported as part of the pipeline's 72nd consignment. Md. Rabiul, the operational manager of the Parbatipur rail depot, stated that the diesel transfer process began at 9:00 AM last Sunday and concluded on Tuesday afternoon.

Under a bilateral agreement signed in 2018, Bangladesh and India agreed to import approximately 2 million tons of diesel from India over a period of 15 years.

Since the inauguration of the India-Bangladesh Friendship Pipeline in March 2023, a total of 330,087 tons of diesel have been imported into Bangladesh through it.

The imported diesel is distributed in roughly equal amounts among three state-owned enterprises—Padma Oil, Meghna Petroleum, and Jamuna Oil Company.

The Bangladeshi section of the pipeline spans 126.57 kilometers, passing through various areas of Panchagarh, Nilphamari, and Dinajpur before reaching Parbatipur.
