The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has taken decisive legal action against the spread of what it describes as "entirely unfounded and malicious" rumors involving its president, Aminul Islam Bulbul.

On Friday evening, the board filed a General Diary (GD) with the Mirpur Police Station, targeting individuals and social media platforms responsible for circulating claims that the president was under investigation for match-fixing.

The controversy erupted earlier on Friday when several social media pages alleged that Alex Marshall, the independent Chair of the BCB’s Integrity Unit, had initiated a corruption probe into President Bulbul regarding the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League (BPL).

The rumors suggested involvement in match-fixing activities, a claim the board has categorically denied as a "deliberate attempt to malign the reputation" of the BCB leadership.

In an official press release, the BCB included a direct clarification from Alex Marshall, who dismissed the reports as "completely untrue and fabricated allegations."

The board expressed serious concern over the dissemination of such misinformation, stating that these actions undermine the integrity of both the BCB and Bangladesh cricket at a time when the sport is already navigating complex international challenges.

The BCB confirmed that it is now working with law enforcement and cyber-security experts to identify the sources behind the false narrative.

"There will be no compromise in protecting the credibility of the board," the statement read, adding that the BCB remains committed to its zero-tolerance policy toward corruption while simultaneously pursuing strict legal penalties for those spreading defamatory content.
