Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has announced a significant shift in match timings for the upcoming home series against New Zealand and the Sri Lanka women’s team.
The decision, formalized on Thursday, is part of a broader national initiative to conserve fuel and electricity by eliminating the need for high-intensity stadium floodlights.
Under the revised schedule, One Day International (ODI) matches will now commence at 11 am local time, shifting forward from the original 3 pm start.
Similarly, the Twenty20 International (T20I) fixtures have been moved from 6 pm to a 2 pm afternoon start.
This adjustment ensures that ODIs conclude by approximately 6:30 pm and T20Is by 5:10 pm, allowing the matches to be played almost entirely under natural daylight.
BCB President Tamim Iqbal had previously hinted at the move toward daylight scheduling to address the country's energy conservation goals.
The New Zealand squad is expected to arrive in Dhaka on April 13 to begin their white-ball campaign.
The three-match ODI series kicks off at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur on April 17, with the second match following on April 20.
The series will then move to Chattogram, where the Bir Shreshtha Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Stadium will host the final ODI on April 23 and the first two T20Is on April 27 and 29.
The tour will wrap up with the final T20I back in Mirpur on May 2.

In addition to the men's series, the BCB confirmed that the Sri Lanka women’s team’s three-match T20I tour of Bangladesh later this month will follow the same energy-saving protocol.
Those matches, which were originally slated for evening starts, have also been moved to the afternoon.
