
Bangladesh concluded their Asian Games men's hockey campaign in seventh position following a comfortable 3-0 victory over Thailand in the place-deciding match played at Gifu Prefectural Green Stadium in Japan on Saturday.
Bangladesh seized an early advantage in the third minute when Roman Sarker found the back of the net, giving head coach Peter Gerhard's side a 1-0 lead by the conclusion of the first quarter.
Maintaining their dominance throughout the contest, Bangladesh doubled their advantage in the 27th minute through Amirul Islam, who successfully converted a penalty corner.
Ashraful Islam sealed the victory in the 53rd minute by converting a penalty stroke to extend the scoreline to 3-0.
Thailand was unable to mount a comeback against Bangladesh's firm hold on the match, allowing the nation to secure seventh place in the tournament and conclude their Asian Games hockey campaign on a triumphant note.
