Displaying a complete exhibition of strength and dominance at Kolkata's historic Salt Lake Stadium, Brazil cruised to a resounding 4-0 victory over India.
A brace from second-half substitute Samuel Lino, alongside first-half goals from Estêvão and Pedro, sealed a comfortable win for the five-time world champions.
Amidst a stadium packed with thousands of Indian supporters, Seleção head coach Carlo Ancelotti named a strong starting lineup featuring Vinícius Júnior, Marquinhos, and young prodigy Estêvão. Early in the match, India's Manvir Singh and Ryan Williams posed notable challenges to the Brazilian defense through counterattacks.
However, in the 28th minute, a low shot from Estêvão on the right flank eluded Indian goalkeeper Gurpreet Singh Sandhu and found the back of the net.
India's goalkeeper was culpable for the second goal as well in the 42nd minute. Pedro capitalized on a clever pass from Estêvão, and his shot slipped through Gurpreet's hands to extend Brazil's lead.
India attempted to mount a comeback in the second half, but a defensive lapse in the 58th minute gifted possession to Lino. He curled in a magnificent shot to make it 3-0.
The Brazilian forward then struck for the fourth time in stoppage time, putting the final nail in the coffin.
Having bounced back from their setback against Australia, Ancelotti and his squad breathed a sigh of relief with a dominant performance on Kolkata soil.
