The celebrations were prepared, and only the formalities remained. Inter Milan completed the task on Sunday night with a 2-0 victory over Parma at the San Siro, mathematically securing their 21st Serie A title—their third in the last six seasons.

With this triumph, Inter moves further ahead in the all-time standings with 21 titles, trailing only Juventus (36) and sitting ahead of cross-town rivals AC Milan (19).

Following the final whistle, the black-and-blue celebrations erupted from the stadium and surged through the streets of Milan.

Match Highlights
The deadlock was broken in first-half stoppage time when Marcus Thuram gave Inter the lead with a clinical side-footed finish. Henrikh Mkhitaryan then sealed the victory and the championship in the 80th minute.

The win puts Inter 12 points clear of last season's champions Napoli with only three games remaining, making it impossible for the top spot to change even if Inter loses their remaining fixtures.

A New Era Under Chivu
After the heartbreak of last season—where they lost the league by a single point and fell to PSG in the Champions League final—coach Cristian Chivu has successfully returned the club to the pinnacle of Italian football.

The Romanian, who played 168 matches for Inter between 2007 and 2014, joined the club as manager this season from Parma, the very team he defeated to clinch the title.

"We are all overjoyed today," said club captain Lautaro Martínez. "But we must not forget the hard work behind this success. After how last season ended, starting over was not easy."

Chasing the Double
Inter now has the opportunity to make further history. On May 13, they face Lazio in the Coppa Italia final at Rome's Stadio Olimpico.

A victory would mark only the third time in club history that Inter has completed the domestic double, a feat last achieved in 2011 under Jose Mourinho.

For goalscorer Marcus Thuram, the night held special significance. Born in Parma while his father, Lilian Thuram, played for the club, Marcus noted: "Since I arrived at Inter, I’ve seen that this is a team that loves being together on and off the pitch. That is our greatest strength."

Other Results
Elsewhere in the league, Juventus missed an opportunity to climb to third place. Despite AC Milan's recent struggles, the Turin giants were held to a 1-1 draw at home by relegated Verona.

Juventus remains in fourth place, holding a three-point lead over Como in the race for Champions League qualification.
