Dr. Zubaida Rahman, the wife of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, departed for London on Sunday morning to participate in a medical training program.
According to Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport authorities, she left on a Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight (BG-201) and landed at London’s Heathrow Airport at 9 pm.
A cardiologist by profession, Dr. Zubaida returned to Bangladesh last year after living in London with her husband for 17 years, during which time she practiced at a London hospital.
Her departure follows a busy Eid-ul-Fitr schedule on Saturday, where she joined the Prime Minister at the state guest house Jamuna for an Eid greetings program.
Before her departure, she and the Prime Minister also visited Sher-e-Bangla Nagar to offer prayers at the graves of former President Ziaur Rahman and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia.
BNP sources confirmed that her current trip is strictly professional, aimed at advancing her medical training.
