BMD Forecasts Countrywide Rain and Thundershowers over Next 24 Hours

Citizens across Bangladesh should prepare for wet weather as the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) anticipates widespread rain and thundershowers over the next 24 hours, starting from 9 am on Friday.

According to an official weather bulletin released this morning, the country is facing varying degrees of precipitation. 

The Met Office stated, "Light to moderate rain or thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty wind are likely to occur at most places over Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions and at many places over Rajshahi, Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal and Chattogram divisions." 

Furthermore, the agency noted that moderately heavy to heavy downpours could strike scattered areas nationwide.

This wet spell is expected to cause a minor drop in both daytime and nighttime temperatures.

Looking back at recent observations, Ishurdi in the Rajshahi division and Sayedpur in the Rangpur division shared the title for the country's maximum temperature on Thursday, topping out at 35 degrees Celsius. 

Conversely, the lowest temperature recorded early Friday morning dropped to 23 degrees Celsius in the Sylhet division.

In terms of recent rainfall amounts, Bandarban saw the most significant accumulation, recording 28 millimetres during the 24-hour period ending at 6 am today. 

Meanwhile, for residents tracking daylight hours in the capital city of Dhaka, the sun is scheduled to set at 6:48 pm this evening and will rise at 5:21 am Saturday morning.
