Prime Minister Tarique Rahman attended the opening ceremony of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly.

Accompanied by his wife, Dr. Zubaida Rahman, the Prime Minister joined the event at 9:00 AM local time on Tuesday (September 22) at the North Delegates Lounge of the UN Headquarters.

Nazmul Haque, Assistant Press Secretary to the Prime Minister, confirmed the information to the media. The opening ceremony was presided over by Foreign Minister Dr. Khalilur Rahman.

Upon his arrival at the venue, the Prime Minister was formally welcomed. He participated in high-level discussions alongside global leaders at this prestigious international forum.

Key issues taking center stage at this year’s session include climate change, the resolution of global conflicts, the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and international economic cooperation.

In addition to attending the opening ceremony, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is expected to hold several bilateral meetings with heads of state, heads of government, and representatives of international organizations.

He is also scheduled to deliver Bangladesh's national statement during the General Debate of the General Assembly.

In his address, he is expected to highlight global peacekeeping, climate justice, and Bangladesh's recent socio-economic development.

Among others present at the opening ceremony were State Minister for Foreign Affairs Humayun Kabir, Shama Obaid, Prime's Office Spokesperson Mahdy Amin, other high-ranking government officials, and Bangladesh's Permanent Representative to the UN.
