
Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) A.M.M. Nasir Uddin is scheduled to meet with the chiefs of the Army, Navy, and Air Force today to review the country’s overall law and order situation ahead of the upcoming 13th National Parliamentary Election and National Referendum.
The high-level meeting will take place on Sunday afternoon (December 21) at the Election Commission (EC) Secretariat in Agargaon, Dhaka.
According to EC sources, the chiefs of the three services will first hold a courtesy meeting with the Election Commission at 12:00 PM. Following this, a formal meeting on the law and order situation will commence at 2:30 PM in the EC Secretariat’s conference room. Presided over by CEC Nasir Uddin, the meeting is expected to include the four Election Commissioners and the EC Secretary.
The agenda for the meeting includes:
Reviewing the pre-election security situation.
Discussing joint force operations for the recovery of illegal arms and the suppression of terrorist activities.
Ensuring an election-friendly environment in accordance with the Code of Conduct.
Md. Ruhul Amin Mallick, Director (Public Relations and Information) of the Election Commission Secretariat, confirmed the schedule. He stated that following the meeting, the Commission will brief the media on the decisions and summaries of the discussion.
Officials and observers view this meeting as a critical step in ensuring comprehensive security and discipline as the nation prepares for the upcoming polls.
