Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus will hand over power to the winning party following the upcoming national elections and referendum.

While public speculation has grown regarding his future, Dr. Yunus recently shared his post-election plans during a meeting with Akie Abe, the widow of the late Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.

On Sunday afternoon (January 11), Deputy Press Secretary to the Chief Adviser, Abul Kalam Azad Majumder, briefed the media on the discussion held at the state guest house, Jamuna.

During the meeting, Ms. Abe inquired about the Chief Adviser’s plans once his tenure concludes.

In response, Dr. Yunus stated that he intends to focus on three primary areas:

Digital Healthcare Development: He aims to expand healthcare access for the country’s vulnerable women.

Additionally, he plans to develop digital systems that allow non-resident Bangladeshis to monitor and manage the health of family members back home.

Empowering Young Entrepreneurs: He will continue his long-standing work in fostering and supporting the next generation of entrepreneurs.

The "Three Zero" Mission: Dr. Yunus committed to continuing his global initiative to achieve zero net carbon emissions, zero wealth concentration (to end poverty), and zero unemployment.

The Deputy Press Secretary noted that the Chief Adviser shared fond memories of his close personal relationship with the former Japanese Prime Minister, who was tragically assassinated.

Dr. Yunus also mentioned that he is scheduled to visit Japan in the third week of March at the invitation of the Sasakawa Foundation.

The foundation, which focuses on ocean research, will host a conference where Dr. Yunus intends to discuss ways to increase collaboration between Japan and Bangladesh in this field.
