The government has issued a new directive concerning the February 10 holiday for workers and employees in industrial zones ahead of the upcoming National Election and Referendum.

While the holiday stands, authorities now have the flexibility to adjust future weekly holidays to compensate for the production break.

The Ministry of Public Administration issued the official notification on Sunday (February 8).

Flexible Holiday Management
According to the circular, the previously announced holidays for the 13th National Parliamentary Election and Referendum, scheduled for February 12, 2026, remain in effect. This includes:

February 11 & 12: Nationwide public holidays by executive order.

February 10: A special holiday specifically for workers and employees in industrial sectors.

The new directive clarifies that to maintain productivity, relevant controlling authorities or factory owners may designate any upcoming weekly holiday (Friday or Saturday) as a regular working day in exchange for the special holiday granted on February 10.

The notification was issued by Assistant Secretary A.B.M. Abu Bakar Siddique of the Ministry of Public Administration, by order of the President.

This move aims to balance the constitutional right of workers to participate in the democratic process with the economic necessity of keeping the country's industrial engines running.
