Significant changes have been made to top-tier positions within the Bangladesh Army, including the Chief of General Staff (CGS), Principal Staff Officer (PSO), and the Director General of the Directorate General of Forces Intelligence (DGFI).

According to Ministry of Defense sources, the official orders were issued by Army Headquarters on Sunday, February 22.

Key Appointments and Promotions
Chief of General Staff (CGS): Lieutenant General Mainur Rahman, previously the GOC of the Army Training and Doctrine Command (ARTDOC), has been appointed as the new CGS. He succeeds Lieutenant General Mizanur Rahman Shamim, who recently retired.

Principal Staff Officer (PSO): Major General Mir Mushfiqur Rahman, formerly the GOC of the 24th Infantry Division in Chittagong, has been promoted to Lieutenant General and appointed as the PSO of the Armed Forces Division.

DG of DGFI: Brigadier General Mohammad Kaiser Rashid Chowdhury has been named the new Director General of the DGFI. He is being promoted to Major General and transferred from Army HQ to DGFI Headquarters.

Strategic Reassignments
Diplomatic Shifts: The outgoing PSO, Lieutenant General S.M. Kamrul Hasan, and the outgoing DG of DGFI, Major General Mohammad Jahangir Alam, have both been transferred to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for upcoming ambassadorial assignments.

Divisional Commands: Brigadier General Md. Hafizur Rahman, who served as the Defense Attaché at the Bangladesh High Commission in Delhi, has been promoted to Major General and appointed as the GOC of the 55th Infantry Division in Jessore.

Major General J.M. Imdadul Islam, the current GOC of the 55th Infantry Division, has been moved to the East Bengal Regimental Center as Commandant.

Major General Ferdous Hasan will take over as the GOC of the 24th Infantry Division in Chittagong.
