The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has banned rallies, processions, and demonstrations in and around the Sher-e-Bangla Nagar area to coincide with the first session of the 13th National Parliament.

The order was announced Wednesday (March 11) afternoon by Acting DMP Commissioner Md. Sarwar.

To ensure the smooth conduct of the parliamentary session—scheduled to begin on March 12—and to maintain law and order, the carrying of weapons, explosives, and hazardous materials is strictly prohibited. Furthermore, all forms of gatherings, marches, and protests are banned within designated zones.

The directive, issued under Sections 28 and 29 of the DMP Ordinance, takes effect from midnight tonight and will remain in force until the end of the parliamentary session.

Restricted Areas Include:

• Mymensingh Road: From Mohakhali Crossing via the Old Airport to Banglamotor Crossing.
• Link Road: From the west end of Banglamotor Link Road to the SAARC Fountain at Hotel Sonargaon Road.
• Panthapath to Farmgate: From the east end of Panthapath through the Green Road intersection to Farmgate.
• Mirpur Road: From Shyamoli Crossing to the intersection of Dhanmondi Road-16.
• Rokeya Sarani Area: From Rokeya Sarani through the Old Airplane Crossing to the Bijoy Sarani Tourism Crossing.
• Indira Road to Manik Mia Avenue: From the east end of Indira Road to the west end of Manik Mia Avenue.

The ban also extends to the National Parliament House reserved area and all roads and alleys located within these boundaries. The DMP stated that these measures are essential to maintaining peace and order while the House is in session.
