The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has significantly bolstered security measures across the capital in anticipation of the upcoming Eid al-Fitr. Acting DMP Commissioner Md. Sarwar has called upon local residents to remain vigilant against suspicious activities in their neighborhoods.

In a statement to the media on Tuesday (March 17), the Commissioner urged citizens to keep a watchful eye for:

• Unfamiliar individuals loitering suspiciously.
• Repeated motorcycle movements through residential areas.
• Unusual gatherings of strangers in any specific location.

"Despite working with limited manpower, the police and related forces are operating in a coordinated manner to maintain law and order," Commissioner Sarwar stated. "In this regard, public awareness and community involvement are absolutely vital."

The Commissioner acknowledged that the police-to-population ratio remains a challenge, but emphasized that the force is exerting maximum effort to ensure public safety and suppress crime.

Community Action and Reporting
The DMP chief advised residents that if they encounter unfamiliar groups or suspicious behavior, they should—where safe—attempt to collectively verify the identity and purpose of those individuals.

He further urged the public to immediately report any genuine concerns or suspicious behavior to the nearest police station or by calling the National Emergency Service at 999.
