India has decided to resume issuing tourist visas to Bangladeshi nationals after a suspension of nearly two years. Applications for tourist visas will be accepted starting June 28, announced the newly appointed Indian High Commissioner to Dhaka, Dinesh Trivedi.

The High Commissioner shared this information with journalists on Thursday (June 25) following his visit to the Indian Visa Application Center in Dhaka.

Earlier, following the fall of the Sheikh Hasina government and the subsequent nationwide instability, all Indian visa application centers were temporarily closed on August 4, 2024.

Later, due to a deterioration in diplomatic relations and the law-and-order situation, the operations of the Indian Visa Application Centers and all tourist visa services were completely suspended on December 21 of last year.

The Indian High Commissioner stated that tourist visas will initially be processed through five visa centers, with the remaining centers to become operational later. The active centers are located in Dhaka, Chattogram, Khulna, Sylhet, and Rajshahi.
