At a press conference held at the Ministry of Commerce, Commerce Adviser Sk Bashir Uddin stated that the price of cowhide has been set at Tk 60 to Tk 65 per square foot in Dhaka, and Tk 55 to Tk 60 outside the capital. Goat hide prices have been fixed at Tk 22 to Tk 27 per square foot, while she-goat hides will range from Tk 20 to Tk 22 across the country.

To support the leather industry, the government will relax restrictions on leather exports for three months. However, no rawhide will be allowed to enter the capital city for 10 days following Eid.

Additionally, the government will distribute free salt across the country to facilitate local preservation of rawhide.

"We've produced two instructional films to educate people on rawhide preservation and processing. These will be shown nationwide," said Bashir. He also noted that 86,000 butchers have received training, with support from the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, and the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock.

Commerce Secretary Mahbubur Rahman and Additional Secretary (Export) Md Abdur Rahim Khan were also present at the event.
