
Three children succumbed to illnesses presenting measles-like symptoms during the twenty-four hours leading up to 8 am on Sunday, pushing the nation's combined tally of confirmed and suspected measles fatalities to 1,022 for the year.
The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) categorized all three recent fatalities under suspected measles classifications.
With these latest additions, the aggregate count of suspected measles deaths stands at 922, while laboratory-confirmed fatalities remain stable at 100.
An additional 905 suspected measles cases were logged during the reporting window, elevating the nationwide cumulative count of suspected cases to 171,543.
Simultaneously, 63 fresh confirmed cases were identified, raising the total number of laboratory-verified infections to 20,069.
According to statistical figures released by the DGHS, a total of 151,024 patients presenting with suspected measles symptoms have been admitted to hospitals across the country since March 15 of this year, out of whom 145,252 individuals have successfully recovered.
