Dengue Claims 8 More Lives as 2,036 Fresh Cases Recorded

Health officials on Monday reported 2,036 new dengue infections alongside at least eight fatalities over the past 24 hours nationwide.

According to a press statement released by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), the latest hospitalizations include 432 patients in Dhaka division, 323 in Chattogram division, 267 in Khulna division, and 254 in Barishal division.

Additionally, 206 individuals were admitted within Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) limits, 169 in Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) jurisdiction, 197 in Rajshahi division, 115 in Mymensingh division, 62 in Rangpur division, and 11 in Sylhet division.

Since the onset of the outbreak this year, Bangladesh has recorded 233 deaths from the vector-borne disease, with total cumulative cases reaching 75,730.

By comparison, official health figures show that dengue caused 413 fatalities and infected 102,861 individuals across the country last year, following a outbreak in 2024 that claimed 575 lives while afflicting 101,214 people.
