
Six more individuals succumbed to dengue while 2,089 new patients were admitted to hospitals across the nation during the 24-hour period ending at 8 am on Sunday.
The latest fatalities have pushed the country's total dengue death toll for the current year to 262, according to data released by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
Among the recent casualties, three occurred in Khulna division, two were recorded within Dhaka South City Corporation, and one was reported in Mymensingh division.
Of the total dengue-related fatalities registered this year, men accounted for 47.7 percent, while women represented 52.3 percent.
Since January 1 this year, a cumulative total of 86,458 dengue patients have been hospitalized nationwide, with 80,347 of them successfully recovering.
The DGHS report detailed that through September 28 this year, Dhaka South City Corporation recorded the highest number of deaths at 74, followed by 51 in Khulna division, 30 in Dhaka North City Corporation, 24 in Chattogram division, 22 in Mymensingh division, 20 in Barishal division, 18 in Rajshahi division, 16 in Dhaka division, six in Rangpur division, and one in Sylhet division.
Currently, 6,838 dengue patients are receiving treatment in various medical facilities across the country.
Additionally, the month of September recorded the highest monthly fatality count from the mosquito-borne viral disease this year, with 148 deaths reported nationwide.
