The White House has characterized the ceasefire with Iran as a "victory" for the United States, with Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt crediting President Donald Trump and the U.S. military for the breakthrough.

According to a report by Al Jazeera on Wednesday (April 8), Leavitt stated that President Trump had initially projected the conflict to last between four and six weeks.

She noted that within 38 days, the U.S. has successfully met and exceeded its primary military objectives.

The Press Secretary wrote:

Leavitt also highlighted that President Trump’s efforts were instrumental in securing the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.

Her remarks follow a statement from Iran’s National Security Council, which claimed they agreed to the two-week truce because "nearly all war objectives have been achieved."

Tehran indicated that they decided to pursue talks in Islamabad to consolidate their "battlefield victories" through political negotiations.
