The U.S. Department of the Treasury has announced new sanctions against 35 individuals and entities allegedly involved in Iran's "shadow banking" network.
The move comes amid a continued stalemate in negotiations aimed at ending ongoing regional hostilities.
U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent stated that the sanctioned parties facilitated the illegal transfer of tens of billions of dollars.
According to the Treasury, these funds have been instrumental in financing Iran's "terrorist activities."
The announcement, reported by Al Jazeera, highlights Washington's latest effort to tighten financial pressure on Tehran by targeting the clandestine systems used to bypass existing international sanctions.
