Bangladesh is set to significantly broaden its digital justice initiative as the 'E-Bail Bond' system expands to eight additional districts tomorrow (Wednesday).

Aimed at eliminating bureaucratic delays and enhancing transparency, this second phase will cover Manikganj, Bandarban, Meherpur, Joypurhat, Moulvibazar, Panchagarh, Jhalakathi and Sherpur.

Law, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs Adviser Dr Asif Nazrul will officially inaugurate the service virtually from Dhaka on January 21.

The E-Bail Bond system represents a major leap in judicial modernization, replacing 12 manual, time-consuming steps with a single digital click.

This initiative follows the successful pilot launch in Narayanganj on October 15, 2025. Dr. Nazrul previously highlighted that the system is a cornerstone of the "new Bangladesh," designed to foster a more citizen-friendly and accountable governance model.

In a notable achievement for local innovation, the software was developed entirely by the ICT Division without relying on external vendors.

Faiz Ahmad Taiyeb, Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser, confirmed that the government is committed to making legal services more accessible through technology. To further this goal, the ICT Division has proposed developing a mobile version of the application to ensure Android users can easily access the service.

Following the incident, Mariam's father, SM Masum Billah, lodged a case with Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station on the morning of September 21, naming Gazi Mohammad Nazrul Islam, Maksuda Islam, and Mariam's maternal uncle Obaidur Rahman as accused parties for allegedly abetting the suicide.
