The Bangladesh Bar Council, the top regulatory body for the nation's legal practitioners, has officially scheduled its upcoming election for May 19.
The decision was reached unanimously during a high-level meeting held on Thursday at the Bar Council building in the capital.
The session was presided over by the Attorney General and Bangladesh Bar Council Chairman, Senior Advocate Barrister Md. Ruhul Quddus Kazal.
According to a press release signed by the Council's Secretary, District and Sessions Judge Mohammad Kamal Hossain Sikder, the meeting saw the participation of key committee chairmen and council members, including Finance Committee Chairman A.S.M. Badrul Anwar, Legal Education Committee Chairman Senior Advocate Abdullah Al Mamun, and Law Reform Committee Chairman Advocate Kazi Enayet Hossain, among others.
As the apex body for lawyers, this election is a significant event for the legal community, determining the leadership that will oversee professional standards and advocate for the interests of practitioners across the country.
Attorney General Barrister Md. Ruhul Quddus Kazal has been appointed as the presiding officer.
