Three people, including a woman, sustained bullet injuries in a random shooting by criminals in the capital's Gandaria area on Sunday evening (August 30).

Following the incident, the injured were rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).

The victims are tea vendor Alamgir (33), and passersby Siam (18) and Asha Akhter (20).

Among them, Siam sustained a bullet wound to the left side of his chest, Alamgir to the head, and Asha to her right leg.

Injured Siam stated that he resides in the Jatrabari area and works at a hotel there. On Sunday evening, he visited his uncle-in-law's tea stall in Gandaria's Munsirtek.

When a fight suddenly broke out on the street, he tried to pull down the shop's shutter from the inside, at which point a bullet struck the left side of his chest near the shoulder.

Meanwhile, Jannati Akhter, wife of injured Alamgir, said that her husband also runs a tea stall at the location. In the evening, a brawl and gunfire broke out in front of the shop.

While inside the shop, he was shot right in the middle of his forehead.

Additionally, injured Asha Akhter stated that she lives in the same area. While walking down the street in the evening, she got caught in the middle of the altercation, resulting in a gunshot wound to her right thigh.

However, she could not identify who was involved in the shooting.

Inspector Md. Faruk, in-charge of the DMCH police camp, confirmed the incident, stating that the three injured are receiving treatment at the hospital's emergency department.

The matter has already been reported to the relevant police station, and legal steps are underway.
