Information and Broadcasting Minister and Awami League (AL) Joint General Secretary Dr Hasan Mahmud today said dialogue can be held with political parties not with arsonists.   "Those are not political parties which carry out arson attacks on people, public transports and hospitals and torch the holy Quran. Those are not political activities," he said while inaugurating the restored mural and photographs named 'Bangabandhu means Bangladesh' in city's Jamalkhan area.  Chattogram City Corporation Mayor Freedom Fighter Rezaul Karim Chowdhury and the daily Azadi Editor MA Malek, among others, addressed the programme as special guests. Dr Hasan said the government is determined to eliminate the arsonists and miscreants.   Extending thanks to ward councilor Saibal Das and the authorities of Diamond Cement and the daily Azadi for restoring the mural of Bangabandhu, the minister said, in fact, BNP-Jamaat only knows how to destroy the history. About the ongoing blockade called by BNP, he said the countrymen rejected their call and everything is normal. The offices, court and schools are open though they are trying to create panic through arson attacks in some places, he said.

US Ambassador to Bangladesh Peter Haas has held a meeting with Awami League leaders. Haas was holding the meeting with an AL delegation led by the party’s General Secretary Obaidul Quader. The meeting started after 11 am today. (reports UNB) Quader came to the AL central office on Bangabandhu Avenue around 10:30 am to attend the meeting with the US ambassador. AL Presidium Member Muhammad Faruk Khan, International Affairs Secretary Shammi Ahmed, Information and Research Secretary Selim Mahmud, Office Secretary Biplab Barua and Executive Member Mohammad Ali Arafat were also present at the time. An official of the US embassy is accompanying Peter Haas at the meeting.

Awami League has called a countrywide demonstration today for opposing BNP's "arson terrorism". The protest rally will continue in every city, district and upazila including Dhaka. Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader announced the demonstration at a press conference after an emergency meeting at the party's central office on Bangabandhu Avenue in the capital on Saturday afternoon. He said, "Bnp has started 'arson terrorism' again." In that time, he announced the demonstrations and protest rallies started from from 10:00am to 5:00pm on Sunday, in all thanas of Dhaka city north and south and countrywide demonstration and rallies. Top leaders of Awami League's affiliated organisations joined the meeting.

Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader said, 'We will win the next election if the people of the country want us, otherwise we will take off our position like 2001.''  He said these things in his address as the chief guest at the distribution and gathering of winter clothes organized by Dhaka Metropolitan North Awami League in front of Azompur Amir Complex on Saturday, January 28 at noon.  Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader said about BNP's march, "It is not BNP's march, it is a death march. The death march of BNP has begun. They will die politically in the next election as well."

Sheikh Hasina, the daughter of Bangabandhu, re-elected as Awami League president for the tenth time. Sheikh Hasina, the daughter of Bangabandhu, re-elected as the president of Bangladesh Awami League for the 10th time in the 22nd Awami League National Council. On the contrary, for the 3rd consecutive time Obaidul Quader elected as the General Secretary of the Bangladesh Awami League. On Saturday, December 24,  this committee was announced in the second session of the conference at the Engineers Institution in the capital at 3 pm.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said, ''Awami League made the Election Commission independent, given them the financial capacity.'' She said, "So that no one can steal votes and fill the ballot boxes in advance, transparent ballot boxes are in place. Awami League government did this." The Prime Minister said these things at the 22nd National Conference of Awami League at the historical Suhrawardy Udyan in the capital on Saturday, December 24. Prime Minister said, Awami League's slogan was 'I will give my vote, I will give it to whoever I want.' "We formed the Election Commission and let them work independently. Voter ID cards have been given to everyone. The Election Commission Appointment Act-2022 was done by us." The Prime Minister said, if we had the intention of rigging votes, we could have formed the Election Commission like  'MA Aziz Commission'. But we did not dot it. In the 1996 elections, Khaleda Zia stole the votes and declared herself as the Prime Minister. But the people of Bangladesh do not accept it if someone steals their vote, the people of this country did not accept it."
