Bangladesh held off Nepal to finish their group stage campaign with a win, and more importantly, gain entry into the Super Eight.

About 17 years ago, Bangladesh played in the Super Eight in the inaugural T20 World Cup. Seven seasons have passed since then. However, the hurdle of the group stage has not been cleared. This time, Bangladesh got rid of that regret by defeating Nepal. With a great win, the Tigers confirmed the Super Eight from the 'D' group.

After losing the toss and batting at the Arnos Vale Ground in Kingstown on Monday (June 17), Bangladesh scored 106 runs losing all wickets in 19.4 overs. In reply, Nepal lost all wickets and stopped at 85 runs with 4 balls left.

Shakib was the star of the show today, making the record of bowling the most dots -21- by any player in a T20 World Cup game as he finished with figures of four for seven in his four overs, including two maidens. Sakib's bowling figure is also the second-best by a Bangladeshi in T20 World Cups after Mustafizur Rahman's five for 22 against New Zealand in the 2016 T20 World Cup.
