England's pursuit of a World Cup final berth ended in disappointment after facing Argentina in the knockout stages for the first time in 40 years. Despite leading for 80 minutes, the English side failed to advance, placing manager Thomas Tuchel's tactical approach under global scrutiny.

Joining the chorus of critics is none other than U.S. President Donald Trump.

During a joint reception with FIFA President Gianni Infantino in New York on Thursday, July 18, President Trump took a jab at Tuchel’s defensive strategy.

Trump also took a moment to praise England's star striker, Harry Kane, mentioning, "England has a fantastic player named Harry Kane, whom I have played golf with. They probably made a mistake by turning him into a defensive player."

He further remarked, "They took the lead in the match, and then they dropped their best player into the defense! We should have been a bit more aggressive, right? But what do I know about coaching!"

During the final half-hour of the second semi-final, as England looked to protect their lead, manager Thomas Tuchel substituted two forwards for defenders.

This tactical shift forced the entire team into a defensive posture.

Tuchel, however, remains steadfast in his decision. "No, I do not regret my decision," he stated. "I felt the team had become too passive on the field. I was simply trying to help the team."
