$225cr remittances received in May
In May this year, the expatriates sent remittances of 225 crore dollars to the country.
This information has been revealed in the latest update report of Bangladesh Bank on Sunday (June 2).
Expatriate income increased by 32.35 percent compared to the same month last year. In May last year, remittances came to 170 crore dollars.
In the 11 months from July to May of the current financial year, the highest remittance came in May. However, the second highest remittance of $ 216 crore came in February.
Expatriates usually send extra money to their families before Eid.
Meanwhile, from July to May 29 of the current fiscal year, the total remittance came to the country of 2 thousand 126 crore dollars. In the same period of the 2022-23 fiscal year, the amount was $1,927 crore. As a result, the expatriate income has increased to 199 crore dollars.
Notably, in the 2020-21 fiscal year, the highest remittance of $2,477 crore came to the country.
