The number of registrations in the Universal Pension Scheme has crossed 3 lakh.
This information was given in a press release from the Ministry of Finance on Monday (June 10).
It is said that within 10 months of the start of the program, the number of registrations in the Universal Pension Scheme has reached 3 lakh 3 thousand 176 people. A total of 86 crore 68 lakh 68 thousand 500 taka has been collected for subscription. Already 62 crore taka have been invested in government treasury bonds from the money of the registrants.
At present registration facility is open in four schemes. Out of this, 2 lakh 24 thousand 164 people have completed registration in Samata Scheme, 21 thousand 294 people in Pragati Scheme, 56 thousand 919 people in Surokkha Scheme and 799 people in Probash Scheme.
Apart from this, a new scheme called 'Prottoy' is being introduced as the fifth scheme, which will be compulsorily effective for the officers and employees of all self-governing, autonomous and state-owned institutions who will join the institution on July 1, 2024.
The notification also said that currently two public and two private banks and one mobile financing service provider are involved in collecting monthly deposits along with registration in the Universal Pension Scheme. However, four more government and four private banks and one mobile financing service provider will join the program soon.
It may be noted that the Prime Minister inaugurated the Universal Pension Scheme on 17 August 2023 to ensure a sustainable and well-organized social security for the elderly population. After the inauguration, significant interest of people in this public welfare program is being observed.
