The National Parliament passed the money bill for the next financial year 2024-25.

Saturday (June 29) Speaker Dr. Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury presided over this bill by voice vote.

Earlier, a few amendments moved on by some members were accepted the Finance Bill. The rest were canceled by voice vote.

Finance Minister Abul Hassan Mahmood Ali in his closing speech on the prepared budget said that in this year's proposed budget, bringing macroeconomic stability along with inflation control has been given the highest priority. It is expected that inflation will come down to 6.5 percent in the next financial year.

Meanwhile, the budget for the financial year 2024-25 will be passed by the National Assembly on Sunday (June 30), which will come into effect from July 1.

Among the proposals raised in this year's budget, the opportunity to whiten black money with a tax of 15 percent has been discussed the most. Although the issue was discussed and criticized, no change will be made in the proposal.

The size of the proposed budget for the fiscal year 2024-25 is 7 lakh 97 thousand crores. This is the 53rd budget of the country, the 25th of the Awami League government and the first budget of Finance Minister Abul Hassan Mahmood Ali.

The revenue target in the budget is Tk 5 lakh 41 thousand crores. The remaining two lakh 56 thousand crores will be the target of borrowing. Annual Development Program (ADP) worth Tk 265 thousand crore has already been approved.
