Ambassador Yao Wen Visits Grameen Bank Jobra Branch

Ambassador Yao and Madam Li had gained a detailed understanding of the development history of Grameen Bank and appreciated its contributions in enhancing the well-being of common people in Bangladesh.

Ambassador Yao and Madam Li also presented daily necessities to the local villagers.

Chief adviser of the interim government and Nobel Laureate Professor Muhammad Yunus started the Grameen Bank project in 1976 as an action research pilot project in Jobra village under Chattogram district.

In 1983, the pilot project was transformed into a bank with the aim of alleviating poverty and empowering the marginalized poor in Bangladesh through microcredit.
